Men tie for second at McKendree event

Elijah Shirley finished second with a 214 score

The Rockhurst men's golf team tied for second place at the McKendree Bearcat Dual Gender Tuesday at the Fair Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville, Illinois.

The Hawks finished with a 54-hole team score of 879, one shot from tying the school record for 54 holes. Rockhurst shot a 293 in the final round after shooting 295 and 291 in the first two rounds.

Elijah Shirley led the Hawks in second place at 214 (71-71-72). Caleb Schmid finished five shots behind Shirley in sixth place at 219 (72-71-75).

Ben Elgas tied for 10th at 222 (77-71-74), Tim Powers tied for 26th at 222 (75-84-72), and Andrew Park tied for 33rd at 233 (79-78-76).
