The Rockhurst volleyball team has earned the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 academic year. It is the 15th consecutive year the program has received the award.
The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, which was initiated in 1992-93, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average.
Rockhurst is one of 147 NCAA Division II programs to receive the AVCA's annual academic award. The Hawks finished the academic year with a 3.82 cumulative grade point average and were also recognized as being among the top 20 percent of team GPAs.
The Hawks are one of 29 NCAA DII teams (and four GLVC schools) listed on the Team Academic Honor Roll for being in the top 20 percent. In addition, 15 players earned a 3.90 or higher GPA during the 2021-22 academic year.
