Rockhurst receives Presidents’ Award for Academic Excellence for 12th consecutive year

Rockhurst is one of eight schools to have earned the recognition every year since the award was started in 2011.

Rockhurst University has received the NCAA Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence for achieving four-year Academic Success Rates of 90 percent or higher for the 12th consecutive year.

Forty-four Division II member schools are recipients of the Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence. Rockhurst is one of eight schools to have earned the recognition every year since the award was started in 2011.

Rockhurst finished with a 94 percent ASR in 2021-22, which ranks in a tie for ninth among NCAA Division II institutions. Rockhurst and Maryville University led the Great Lakes Valley Conference and all Division II schools in Missouri and Kansas.

Bentley, Biola and Saint Michael's were the top performers, earning an ASR of 99 percent. Hillsdale (98 percent), Thomas Jefferson (97 percent) and Trevecca Nazarene (97 percent) rounded out the top six.

"Student-athletes balance a lot of obligations, between travel and practice and the season schedule," said RU Director of Athletics Kristy Bayer. "But our Hawks know that they have a support network that includes their coaches, their faculty, University staff, and each other. We're very proud of that network of support and of our student-athlete's continued success."

Of the 14 men's and women's athletic programs measured at Rockhurst University for the report, eight posted an academic success rate of 100 percent, and the ASR in every program was measured above the national average of 76 percent.

"Most collegiate student-athletes at all levels will transition to careers other than professional sports," Bayer said. "We think it is crucial that they receive a high-quality, Jesuit education and are able to graduate on time, no matter where they go after college."
