Men's Basketball 11/28/2022 8:00:00 AM Men open conference play tonight Rich Byhre leads the GLVC in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots The Rockhurst men return home for the first time since Nov. 19 to face the Maryville Saints in the Hawks' Great Lakes Valley Conference opener at 7:30 tonight at Mason-Halpin Field House. The Hawks (2-3) play three conference games in the next six days. A long road trip awaits Rockhurst as the Hawks travel to McKendree on Thursday and Indianapolis on Saturday. Junior forward Rich Byhre leads the GLVC in scoring (17.6), rebounding (10.2) and blocked shots (1.6). Junior guard Jake Auer ranks 30th in scoring (10.8) in the GLVC. Byhre and Auer have combined for 1,029 career points. Freshmen Timaris Brown and Miles White are averaging 8.4 and 8.0 points per game, respectively. Maryville (6-1, 1-0 GLVC) posted a 59-51 conference victory at William Jewell on Saturday. Senior guard Kelvin Swims leads the Saints with a 13.3 scoring average. Rockhurst won the most recent meeting, 61-60, in St. Louis last January. The Hawks have won seven of the last eight meetings and lead the all-time series, 9-4.
