Hawks play their next three games at home

Nick Volz continues to move up the charts in career points and rebounds.
The Rockhurst men's basketball team opens a three-game homestand tonight against the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons. Rockhurst defeated the Tritons, 76-67, last year in St. Louis. UMSL won the previous four meetings before last season.

The Hawks (7-11, 2-6 GLVC) and Tritons (12-4, 6-3 GLVC) tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Mason-Halpin Field House. The two schools will meet a second time on Feb. 7 in St. Louis.'

Nick Volz ranks seventh in scoring (15.3 pg), eighth in rebounding (6.8 pg) and eighth in assists (3.2 pg) in the GLVC. The senior forward continues to move up the charts in career points (1,097) and rebounds (611).

The Tritons are led by junior forward Marty Jackson, who is averaging 17.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Senior guard Yaakema Rose leads the GLVC with 2.6 steals per game.

Rockhurst faces Lindenwood (8-9, 4-5 GLVC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Kansas City. The Lions are coming off back-to-back wins over William Jewell and Truman State. Senior guard Jacoby Ross ranks third in the GLVC in scoring (18.9 pg).

The Hawks conclude their homestand on Monday at 7:30 p.m. against Illinois Springfield. The Prairie Stars (9-8, 4-5 GLVC) have won seven of their last nine games going into this weekend. Sophomore guard Chase Robinson ranks 16th in scoring (13.8 pg) and fifth in steals (1.9 pg) in the GLVC.
