Men hit the road for next three games

The Hawks rank second in 3-point field goals made in the GLVC.
The Rockhurst men's basketball team opens a three-game road swing in St Louis this week. The Hawks (6-9, 1-4 GLVC) face Maryville at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Maryville (9-6, 3-4 GLVC) fell in overtime, 79-71, at Quincy on Monday. Sophomore guard Ari Jackson leads the Saints in scoring (14.3 pg) and 3-point field goals made (2.6 pg).

Rockhurst, fresh off a 78-71 victory over Drury at home last Saturday, plays at Missouri S&T at 3 p.m. Saturday and the Hawks will conclude the road trip at Southwest Baptist on Monday at 6 p.m.

Senior forward Nick Volz ranks seventh in scoring (15.4 pg), fifth in rebounding (7.3 pg) and fourth in assists (3.7 pg) in the GLVC. Sophomore guard Jake Auer is 10th in scoring (14.9 pg) and second in 3-point field goals made (3.4 pg) in the conference.

Missouri S&T (7-9, 3-6 GLVC) is coming off a 90-84 overtime win at Quincy on Monday. Freshman guard Julien Smith leads the GLVC with a 19.5 scoring average. The Miners posted an 82-62 at Rockhurst on Jan. 2.

Southwest Baptist (11-2, 5-1 GLVC) is in first place in the GLVC West Division. Senior guard Quinn Nelson leads the Bearcats with a 13.4 scoring average. SBU won at Rockhurst, 76-68, back on Dec. 2.
