Seniors will lead Hawks going into 2021 season

Senior middle hitter Morgan Conner earned All-GLVC honors last spring.
Four seniors will lead the Rockhurst volleyball team heading into the Hawks' second season under head coach Trent Jones.

Middle hitters Morgan Conner and Justice Wingate give the Hawks a strong pair on the front-line. The senior duo combined for 269 kills and 122 blocks in 19 games last spring, while Conner earned All-GLVC second team honors.

"Morgan is a terminal player who can score at the net. I think Justice can have a breakout year," said Jones, who directed the Hawks to seven consecutive wins at the end of the spring season.
 
The other two seniors back are outside hitter Averi Vomastic and setter Gabbie Inman. Vomastic was second on the team with 158 kills last spring. Inman collected 331 assists and 140 digs in her junior season.

Joining Vomastic on the outside will be sophomores Kenzie Hines and Shelby Stefanon. Freshman Tera Reberry will start on the right side. Gracie LaForge, Logan Gronewold, Sydney McDonald and Hannah Graves add depth on the front line.

The libero duties will be handled by sophomore Maureen Reilly. Sophomore Sarah Montague and junior Brynn Bonewell will see action as setters. Junior defensive specialist Sophia Moes also returns.

The 25th-ranked Hawks will be tested on the first day of the 2021 season on Friday in Topeka, Kansas at the Washburn Invitational, facing a pair of ranked foes in Harding and Northern State.

"We will be battle tested by the time we start conference play," Jones added. "We play a very tough non-conference schedule."
