Rockhurst Women's Volleyball split their two matches at the CSM Oredigger Classic on Friday in Golden, Colorado. The Hawks defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills in four sets during match two and fell in five sets to UC-Colorado Springs in match one.
Match 2: RU 3, CSUDH 1
Rockhurst took the first set, 25-17. The Toros took the second set, 25-23, before RU won 25-23 in the third set. The match was clinched with a 25-20 win in the fourth set after an
Ali Olson kill with a
Kaitlyn Dumpit assist.
Delaney Hope tallied 14 kills and four blocks. Olson collected 10 kills and a team-leading five blocks.
Chloe Tyrrell recorded nine kills, three blocks and five digs.
Alyssa McDonald had eight kills and four service aces.
Molly Trachta led Rockhurst in service aces (six) and kills (22). Dumpit notched 20 assists, and
Abby Boyd had 13 digs.
As a team, Rockhurst finished with 54 kills, 14 service aces, nine team blocks, 51 assists and 42 digs.
Match 1: UC-Colorado Springs 3, RU 2
Rockhurst won the first set, 32-30 and the Mountain Lions won 25-19 during sets two and three. The Hawks tied the match with a 25-16 win in the fourth set before UC-Colorado Springs won 15-9 in the fifth set.
Olson had a team-leading 15 kills and recorded three blocks. McDonald tallied 12 kills.
Avery DeLong recorded 11 kills and two blocks.
Carlie Pandjaris led the Hawks in service aces with two. Hope notched four blocks.
Trachta (25) and Dumpit (23) combined for 48 assists. Boyd tallied 11 digs. Trachta and Dumpit both recorded nine digs.
Rockhurst collected 65 kills, five service aces, nine team blocks, 60 assists and 57 digs.
Rockhurst (1-1) finishes the CSM Orediggers Classic on Saturday. The Hawks face Flagler at 11:30 a.m. MT and Colorado School of Mines at 3:30 p.m. MT.
