Hawks sign guard from Southeastern Louisiana

Maxim Romanov, center, played in 45 games at Southeastern Louisiana.
Head coach Drew Diener announced the signing of Maxim Romanov of Nahariya, Israel on Thursday (June 17). The 6-8 guard is the fifth addition to Rockhurst's 2021-22 men's basketball class.

Romanov played the past two seasons at Southeastern Louisiana University in the Southland Conference. He combined for 110 points and rebounds in 45 games for the Lions.

This past season, Romanov scored seven points off the bench in a win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and helped SLU defeat Central Arkansas as he scored six points off the bench. In his freshman season, he scored a career-high 10 points at Abilene Christian.

In 2018-19, Romanov averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists per game for Impact Basketball Academy.

"Maxim is another guy who adds great length to our program," Diener said. "He has guard skills and is a tremendous passer. His length allows him to see the floor very well. Last year, playing  more of an interior role, he showed his ability to have success in the paint.

"From all our conversations, he is coachable and hungry for an opportunity. He seems to have an incredible work ethic and is very driven."
