Late homer lifts Hawks to 9-8 win over Drury

Rockhurst used a pair of two-run home runs and clutch relief pitching to post a 9-8 victory over Drury in the opening game of a four-game series Thursday night at RU's Loyola Park.

Cameron Gardner gave the Hawks a 9-7 lead with a two-run home run over the left-field fence in the seventh inning. Garrett McNally also went deep to left with a runner on base in the third to give Rockhurst a 4-3 lead.

Luke Lancaster held the Panthers to one run on one hit over the final 2.2 innings to collect his third win of the season.

McNally led the nine-hit attack with three hits and two RBIs. Gardner had a team-high three RBIs.

Ethan Kleinheider posted two hits and drove in two runs with a third-inning single. Nathan Mark added two hits.

The Hawks (10-7, 7-6 GLVC) continues their series with Drury with a noon doubleheader on Friday.
