Rockhurst announces All-Century Men's Basketball Team

The men’s basketball program is planning to honor the All-Century Team next season.
Rockhurst University has announced its All-Century Team for men's basketball. The announcement is part of Rockhurst's celebration of its 100th season of intercollegiate men's basketball.

The men's basketball program is planning to honor the All-Century Team at a home game early next season.

The 15-member team is listed chronologically below, along with the years each student-athlete played for the Hawks:

Jack McCloskey (1952-56)
  • Rockhurst's first NAIA All-American in his senior year in 1955-56.
  • Led Hawks to the 1956 NAIA national tournament.
  • Posted team-high 468 points and 156 assists in 1955-56.
  • Finished his career with 1,242 points.
Bob Castenada (1956-60)
  • First player to score 600 points in a season at Rockhurst.
  • Scored 638 points in junior year in 1958-59.
  • Finished with school-record 1,689 career points.
  • Left school holding most of school's scoring, rebounding and assist records.
Ralph Telken (1960-64)
  • Helped lead Hawks to 1964 NAIA national championship.
  • Received NAIA Tournament's Hustle Award in 1964.
  • First Team All-American in 1963-64 and Second Team All-American in 1962-63.
  • Played on 1964 NAIA Olympic Trials Team.
Pat Caldwell (1961-66)
  • Holds school career records in scoring (2,334) and rebounding (1,113).
  • Helped lead Hawks to 1964 NAIA national championship.
  • First Team All-American in 1965-66 and Second Team All-American in 1964-65.
  • Member of 1964 NAIA Olympic Trials Team. 
Al Payne (1963-66)
  • Played in two NAIA national tournaments.
  • Starting forward on 1964 national championship team.
  • Holds school record for rebounds in a season (414) and ranks No. 2 in career rebounds (1,097).
  • Honorable mention All-American in 1965-66.
Jim Healey (1965-69)
  • First Team All-American in 1967-68 and Second Team All-American in 1966-67.
  • Ranks in top 10 in scoring (1,526) and rebounding (802) at Rockhurst.
  • Averaged 23.0 points per game in 1967-68.
  • Made school record 45 consecutive free throws in 1966.
Carl Cook (1966-70)
  • Ranks fourth in both career scoring and rebounding in school history.
  • Finished career with 1,832 points and 949 rebounds.
  • Honorable mention All-American in 1969-70.
  • Scored 602 points in his junior season in 1968-69.
Jim Schaefer (1967-71)
  • One of top rebounders in school history with 814 caroms.
  • Led Hawks to 64 wins over four seasons.
  • Scored 1,358 points in 102 career games.
  • Honorable mention All-American in his senior year.
Jim Kopp (1969-72)
  • Ranks among leading scorers (1,465) and rebounders (692) in school history.
  • Averaged school record 26.1 points per game in 1971-72.
  • Holds school record for most points in game (50 vs. Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in 1972).
  • Second Team All-American forward in his senior year in 1971-72. 
Mark Teahan (1978-82)
  • Helped lead Hawks to back-to-back NAIA national tournaments in 1980 and '81.
  • Three-time honorable mention All-American (1980-82).
  • Collected 359 rebounds in 1980-81.
  • One of only three Hawks to collect over 1,000 rebounds. 
Dennis Luber (1979-83)
  • Three-time NAIA All-District 16 selection.
  • Received District 16 Player of the Year and Third Team All-American honors in 1982-83.
  • Named to honorable mention NAIA All-Tournament team in 1981.
  • Honorable mention All-American in 1981-82.
Doug Wemhoff (1985-89)
  • Tied for second in career scoring (2,063 points) and ranks sixth in career rebounding (882).
  • Named Hawks' Most Valuable Player in 1988-89.
  • Selected to NAIA All-District Team in 1988-89.
  • Scored 655 points while averaging 21.8 points per game in his senior year.
Davin Winkley (1997-2002)
  • Helped lead Rockhurst to 74 wins over four seasons.
  • Led Hawks to 24-6 record and NCAA Division II Sweet 16 finish in 2002.
  • Tied for second in career scoring (2,063 points).
  • Ranks fifth in career rebounding (939).
Aaron Hill (2005-10)
  • Two-time NCAA Division II All-American
  • Ranks fifth in career scoring (1,786 points).
  • Holds school record in three-point field goals made (344).
  • Named GLVC Player of the Year in 2008-09. 
Curtis Lewis (2017-21)
  • Ranks second in career assists.
  • Named GLVC Freshman of the Year in 2017-18.
  • Earned All-GLVC honors in his final three seasons.
  • Finished his career with 1,598 points, 456 rebounds, 383 assists and 117 steals.
