Hawks host Missouri Western Griffons

Rich Byhre scored 18 points vs. Emporia State last week.
The Rockhurst Hawks will be going after their second win of the season tonight against the Missouri Western State Griffons at 7 p.m.
 
Rockhurst (1-4) is coming off a 96-78 loss to Emporia State at home last Wednesday. Jake Auer led the Hawks with a career-high 23 points.

Auer ranks 17th in scoring (14.6 pg ) and second in 3-point field goals made (3.4 pg) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Nick Volz is averaging 13.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Rich Byhre is also scoring in double figures (10.4 pg).
 
Missouri Western (2-4) is led by JaQuaylon Mays, who transferred from Johnson County Community College. The 6-2 junior guard is averaging 24.3 points per game. He posted 27 points and 10 rebounds in a 72-67 loss to Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday.

The Griffons have won five of the last seven meetings with Rockhurst. The Hawks won the most recent encounter, 87-75, in Kansas City in 2019. The two teams have split their last 18 meetings dating back to 2000.
