Hawks host Emporia State tonight

The Hawks' Charlie Hoehne attacks the basket.
Fresh off their first victory of the season, the Rockhurst men's basketball is back home tonight to face the Emporia State Hornets at 7 p.m.
 
Rockhurst (1-3) posted a 63-56 victory over Purdue Northwest at home Saturday in the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge. Nick Volz and Jake Auer combined for 33 points, including scoring 16 points in the final 10:16 of the second half.

Volz leads the Hawks with a 13.8 scoring average while shooting 54.3 percent from the field. Auer is averaging 12.5 points and 2.5 three-point field goals per game. Junior forward Mikal Gjerde is the team leader in rebounding (6.8 per game).
 
Emporia State (1-1) is led by Tray Buchanan, who transferred from South Dakota State. The 6-1 guard scored 31 points in a 73-69 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State and added 29 points in a 77-61 loss to Arkansas Tech in Hays, Kansas last weekend.

The Hawks have won the last two meetings with Emporia State, most recently winning 109-100 in double overtime at Emporia in 2019. The Hornets hold a 47-33 lead in the all-time series.
