Hawks face a pair of key GLVC West opponents

The Rockhurst men face two key divisional games this week as the Hawks near the mid-point part of the season. The Hawks (4-4) host Southwest Baptist on Thursday (5:30 p.m.) and travel to Drury on Saturday (2 p.m.).

Southwest Baptist leads the GLVC West Division with a 6-2 record. SBU posted a 91-83 victory over Rockhurst last month in Bolivar while shooting 64.8 percent from the field.

The Bearcats are coming off an 84-77 loss at home to Southern Indiana on Tuesday. Senior guard Brady Smith leads SBU with a 17.0 scoring average.

Drury's record fell to 3-3 after suffering a 78-73 loss at Missouri-St. Louis on Tuesday. Senior guard Conley Garrison ranks fifth in the GLVC in scoring (18.7 pg).

Senior guard Chris Hamil leads the Hawks in scoring (13.9 pg) while approaching 1,000 career points. Curtis Lewis is averaging 13.8 points and 3.0 assists per game. Nick Volz and Quinton Curry both average over nine points and six rebounds per game.

Lewis and Curry rank among the top 20 active career scorers in NCAA Division II. Lewis ranks 11th in D2 and 10th in school history with 1,417 points. Curry is 17th in D2 and 15th in school history with 1,288 points.
