Junge tied for first place after opening round at Ottawa Invitational

Jack Junge fell one shot short of tying his season best for 18 holes from last season.

Rockhurst's Jack Junge is tied for first place on the individual leaderboard after the first round of the Ottawa Fall Invitational Monday at the Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence, Kansas.

Junge shot an even-par 72 over the 7,052-yard layout located next to Clinton Lake. The senior from Lawrence shot a 36 on both the front and back nines. Junge fell one shot short of tying his season best for 18 holes from last season.

The Hawks are in fourth place in the team standings after the first round with a 302 score, only trailing team leader Kansas Wesleyan by five shots.

Senior Daven Bhagar is tied for ninth place with a career-best round of 74. Freshmen Cooper Stiles and Will Armstrong both broke 80 in their first collegiate competition. Stiles, playing as an individual, is tied for 19th place with a 76. Armstrong is tied for 25th with a 78.

The 36-hole tournament concludes on Tuesday at Eagle Bend.
