Specht recognized by GLVC as Spalding Sportsmanship honoree

Senior Joe Specht has been recognized by the GLVC in the sport of baseball as an honoree of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.
Rockhurst senior infielder Joe Specht has been recognized by the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the sport of baseball as an honoree of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.
 
The representatives from 16 GLVC schools were chosen by their respective coaches to have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior this season.
 
These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
 
Specht has played in 53 games over the past three seasons. He collected 29 total bases with three doubles and one home run, while scoring 12 runs and driving in 10 runs. He played in 13 games and started 10 games at second base in 2020, batting .313 with one home run and seven RBIs.
 
Specht is now eligible to become one of RU's two overall James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced on Monday, May 18.
