Southwest Baptist hosts Hawks on Wednesday

Rockhurst returns to Southwest Baptist for the first time since the end of last season. The Hawks and Bearcats meet up again at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Bolivar, Missouri.

The Hawks (3-2) fell short at home against Missouri-St. Louis, 82-77, last Saturday. Curtis Lewis led five Hawks in double figures with 21 points.

Lewis ranks 16th in scoring (16.2 pg) and 14th in assists (3.2 pg) in the GLVC. Chris Hamil leads the team in scoring (19.0 pg, seventh in the GLVC). Quinton Curry ranks eighth in rebounding (8.0 pg) in the GLVC. Freshman guard Jake Auer is fourth in the league in 3-point field goals made (3.0 pg).

Lewis and Curry rank among the top active career scorers in NCAA Division II. Lewis ranks seventh in D2 and 12th in school history with 1,388 points. Curry is ninth in D2 and 15th in school history with 1,264 points. Curry also stands seventh in active career rebounds (607) in D2.

Southwest Baptist (1-1) is coming off a 71-63 loss at Missouri-St. Louis Monday night. Senior guard Brady Smith paces the Bearcats with a 19.5 scoring average.

The Hawks swept Bearcats last year with Rockhurst winning by nine points at home while posting a five-point victory at Southwest Baptist. The Hawks lead the all-time series, 32-21.
