Revised basketball schedules are released by the GLVC

The Hawks will host 11 conference men's and women's basketball doubleheaders in 2020-21.
The 2020-21 men's and women's basketball schedules were announced today by the Great Lakes Valley Conference (Oct. 8). Both of Rockhurst's schedules will feature 22 conference doubleheaders, 11 to be played at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

The 15-team GLVC will be divided into three divisions during 2020-21 with Rockhurst residing in the West Division along with William Jewell, Southwest Baptist, Drury and Missouri S&T.

Each team will play a home-and-home series with every divisional opponent and four random non-divisional opponents, while playing the remainder of the non-divisional opponents once.

Rockhurst tips off the season with road games at Southern Indiana (Nov. 27) and McKendree (Nov. 29). The Hawks will host William Jewell in their home opener on Dec. 3.

The remainder of the 2020-21 home schedule includes Drury (Dec. 12), Lewis (Jan. 3), Missouri-St. Louis (Jan. 6), Southwest Baptist (Jan. 14), Missouri S&T (Jan. 21), Maryville (Jan. 23), McKendree (Feb. 4), Southern Indiana (Feb. 6), Illinois Springfield (Feb. 18) and Quincy (Feb. 20).

The 2021 GLVC Men's and Women's Basketball Championship Tournament is scheduled March 4-7 at an undetermined site and will feature the top eight teams based on the GLVC's Point Rating System.

"After discussing a number of scheduling parameters for the season, we are pleased to be able to proceed with our basketball schedules this year," said GLVC Commissioner Jim Naumovich. "As we have done with all of our sports thus far, we will continue to do our due diligence in reviewing the testing guidelines put forth by the NCAA Sport Science Institute, as the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and fans remains our top priority."

Both sports are permitted to begin practicing on Oct. 15.

At this time, spectators will be prohibited at all GLVC basketball games, which will be contested with essential personnel only.

The GLVC will continue to work closely with its member institutions as it evaluates the national, regional and local landscapes, and review and modify game-environment procedures as necessary.
