Hawks earn NABC Team Academic Excellence Award

The Rockhurst men's basketball team is one of 150 programs recognized by the NABC for academic achievement.
The Rockhurst men's basketball program received the National Association of Basketball Coaches' Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2018-19 season the NABC announced Thursday (July 11). The Hawks were one of 150 teams across the country to earn the award, which recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

The NABC, located in Kansas City, Missouri, was founded by former University of Kansas coach Phog Allen in 1927, and organizes coaches to serve as "Guardians of the Game." The NABC, comprised primarily of men's college basketball coaches, currently has nearly 5,000 members. The four core values of being a Guardian of the Game are advocacy, leadership, service, and education.

Rockhurst joins fellow Jesuit schools Creighton, Gonzaga, Holy Cross and Seattle in receiving the Team Academic Excellence Award.
