Hawks begin GLVC action at Quincy on Sunday

Senior left-hander Grant Ruediger shut out Bemidji State in his last start.

The Rockhurst baseball team will take a three-game winning streak into their Great Lakes Valley Conference opener Sunday at Quincy. The three-game series was pushed back one day due to rain in Quincy on Saturday.

Quincy and Rockhurst will play two games on Sunday beginning at noon and one game at noon on Monday. Quincy brings a 7-2 record into the series.

Rockhurst (3-7) is coming off a no-hitter thrown by junior left-hander Jack Eisenbarger in a 2-0 win over Bemidji State on March 1 in Fort Scott, Kansas. Eisenbarger was named the GLVC Pitcher of the Week and the Division II National Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

The Hawks have thrown three consecutive shutouts and currently has shut out their opponents over the last 26 innings. Junior right-hander Griffin Fletcher and senior left-hander Grant Ruediger also threw complete game shutouts against Bemidji State in Fort Scott.

Junior outfielder Noah Huston leads the Hawks offensively with a. 450 batting average (9-for-20) with three doubles and 12 total bases. Junior third baseman Garrett McNally is hitting .355 (11-for-31) with two home runs and seven RBIs.

The Hawks have added Central Missouri to their schedule. The Hawks will play one game at UCM on Wednesday, March 13 at 3 p.m. before returning home to host Illinois Springfield in a three-game series March 16-17. The UIS series will be played at Urban Youth Academy in downtown Kansas City.
