Hawks open conference play at William Jewell

Curtis Lewis ranks eighth in scoring in the GLVC.
The Rockhurst Hawks open the conference season Tuesday night at William Jewell. The Hawks (2-3) and Cardinals (3-3) will tip off around 7:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center in Liberty, Missouri.

Rockhurst won their last meeting, 96-80, on Feb. 23, 2019 in Liberty. Jewell has won 15 of the last 22 meetings in the all-time series. The Cardinals hold an 11-5 advantage over the Hawks since joining the GLVC in 2012.

The Hawks' Curtis Lewis (18.6 pg), Quinton Curry (16.8 pg) and Nick Volz (13.2 pg) rank among the top 30 scorers in the GLVC. Curry (8.8 pg) and Volz (7.8 pg) rank in the top six in rebounding in the GLVC.

Jewell is led by junior forward Eysan Wiley, who ranks 11th in scoring (17.2 pg) and second in rebounding (8.8) in the GLVC. Sophomore guard Robbie Hanson and senior guard Nick Bradley also are averaging over 10 points per game.

Both teams are coming off losses last week in the MIAA Thanksgiving Classic at Municipal Auditorium. The Hawks fell to Northeastern State 78-69, while the Cardinals lost to Emporia State, 75-67.

Tuesday's game will be streaming on glvcsn.com and the GLVCSN mobile app. Live stats are available here on rockhursthawks.com.
