Rockhurst opens regular season in Michigan

The Rockhurst men's basketball teams opens the regular season this weekend in the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge on the Davenport University campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Hawks meet the 22nd-ranked Davenport Panthers at 2:00 p.m. CST Friday. Davenport (1-1) is coming off an 82-73 victory over Division I Grand Canyon in an exhibition game Tuesday in Phoenix. Junior guard Chris Rollins led Davenport with 22 points.

The Panthers opened with the season with a 77-68 win over USC-Aiken and a 98-48 loss to sixth-ranked Lincoln Memorial. Davenport has won both meetings against Rockhurst the past two years.

Rockhurst will face Purdue-Northwest at 11:00 a.m. CST on Saturday. The Pride finished with a 7-21 record (3-17 GLIAC) last year. The Hawks posted wins over Purdue-Northwest in each of the past two seasons.

The Hawks host Washburn in their home opener on Friday, Nov. 15 at Mason-Halpin Field House.
