Emporia State hosts Hawks Friday night

The Rockhurst Hawks return to the road Friday night at Emporia State. The Hawks (1-2) and Hornets (3-2) tip it off a 6:30 p.m. at the White Auditorium in Emporia, Kansas.

Rockhurst and Emporia State meet for the seventh consecutive year. The Hawks won their last meeting, 95-90, last year at Rockhurst. Emporia State leads the all-time series 47-32 and has won four of the last six meetings.

The Hawks are coming off a 57-55 victory over Washburn last Friday. Curtis Lewis leads the team with an 18.0 scoring average. Quinton Curry is averaging 12.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Nick Volz is scoring 11.0 points a game and grabbing 8.3 rebounds per game.

The Hornets have won their last three games after opening the season with a pair of losses. Keyon Thomas scored 30 points to lead Emporia State to a 94-82 win over Sterling at home Monday night.

Rockhurst will face Northeastern State (Okla.) next Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. at Kansas City's venerable Municipal Auditorium.
