Hawks conclude exhibition season in Tulsa

The Rockhurst Hawks close out their exhibition season Thursday night (7 p.m.) against the Tulsa Hurricane at the Reynolds Center.

Tulsa features five returning letterwinners from a team that posted an 18-14 record a year ago. Three of those returning lettermen ranked among the top six in scoring during the 2018-19 campaign.

Rockhurst returns four starters from last year's 17-12 team, which was picked sixth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Juniors Curtis Lewis and Quinton Curry return for their third seasons. Junior guard Chris Hamil and sophomore center Nick Volz also started most of last season.

Four players scored in double figures to lead Rockhurst to a 79-68 victory over Benedictine College in the Hawks' exhibition opener Monday night in Atchison, Kansas. Curry led the Hawks with 16 points and eight rebounds.

The Hawks open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 8 in Grand Rapids, Michigan against Davenport University in the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge.
