Rockhurst grabs pair of wins over UMSL Tritons

Brock Collins collected the save in both wins.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Henry Weiler doubled home two runs in the fifth inning to give Rockhurst a 4-2 victory over Missouri-St. Louis in the first game of a conference doubleheader Friday at the UMSL Baseball Field in St. Louis.

The Hawks scored an unearned run in the top of the eighth inning to win the second game, 7-6. Rockhurst (20-27, 10-16 GLVC) has won five in a row and 13 of its last 19 games.

Weiler posted three of the Hawks' seven hits in the opener. Corbin Hare opened the scoring with a run-scoring single in the fourth. Jack Eisenbarger (4-5) allowed two runs on seven hits over 8.0 innings. Brock Collins closed out the ninth inning to post the save.

In the second game, the Hawks scored four runs in the seventh to take a 6-4 lead. Jeremy Lufft capped the comeback with a two-run double. UMSL hit a two-run home run with two outs to force extra innings. The Hawks scored the winning run with the aid of a dropped flyball with two outs in the eighth.

Hare, who had two hits in Game One, led the Hawks with two hits and two RBIs. Nick Pascuzzi and Jack Burns added two hits apiece.

Jacob Thigpen allowed four runs on six hits in 5.1 innings. Grant Ruediger won his second game out of the bullpen, while Collins got the last two outs to get his second save of the day.

The Hawks close out the regular season with a doubleheader at UMSL on Saturday.
