Hawks fall short against Mesa in RMAC Tournament

Box Score Sixth-seeded Rockhurst fell to third-seeded Colorado Mesa 14-11 in the first round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday at Regis Univeristy in Denver, Colorado.

Mesa jumped out to a 5-4 lead at halftime. The Mavericks scored five unanswered goals to take an 11-6 lead. Rockhurst ended the game on a 5-3 run.

Shayna Stevens scored the Hawks' first two goals to give the Hawks a 2-1 lead. Audrey Ford and Tessa Boots both scored two goals in the second half. Ford and Emelia Boillat led the Hawks with three points.

Mesa outshot Rockhurst, 36-24. Stevens led the Hawks with five shots. Ford and Clare Goessling each posted four shots. Hanna Meek finished with seven draw controls and two ground balls. Jaylin Johnson collected four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Bunga Spencer added three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Leena Nabulsi tallied 15 saves.

The Hawks wrap up their fifth season as a Division II program with an 8-7 record. Mesa (12-3) will face second-seeded Regis in the tournament semifinals on Friday.
