Weiler leads Hawks to 7-3 win in final home game

Nine seniors were recognized between games of Sunday's doubleheader.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Behind the hitting and pitching of Henry Weiler, Rockhurst captured its final home game of the season over Truman State, 7-3, Sunday as eight seniors played their final home game at Loyola Park.

Weiler shut out Truman on four hits over 6.2 innings to win his second game of the season. He also hit a two-run home run to left field on a 2-2 pitch in the sixth inning in his final at-bat at Loyola Park.

Connor Ellefson drove in three runs with a two-run single in the first and a run-scoring single in the fifth. Alex Van Pelt and Jack Burns added RBI singles. Weiler and Ellefson led the Hawks with two hits apiece in the 10-hit attack.

Truman State won the first game, 4-1, while being held to three hits. One of those hits was a three-run home run in the first inning.

Corbin Hare hit a run-scoring single in the fourth to cut Truman's lead to 3-1. Brock Collins (2-4) allowed four runs on three hits with eight strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

The Hawks (16-27, 8-16 GLVC) will play a pair at McKendree on Tuesday.
