Hawks rally for 7-6 victory over Missouri S&T

Henry Weiler doubled home two runs in the sixth inning in Game 1.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Henry Weiler doubled home two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally Rockhurst to a 7-6 victory over Missouri S&T in the first game of a conference doubleheader Saturday at RU's Loyola Park.

Weiler's two-out double to left-center scored Colby Smith and Tommy Kraus. Smith walked and Krause singled with one out.

The Hawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning and maintained their lead going into the sixth inning. The Miners scored six runs on five hits and an error in the sixth,

???????Weiler led the Hawks with two hits and three RBIs. Kraus and Nic Mertes each posted two hits. Nathan Mark hit a two-run double in the first and Alex Van Pelt tripled home a run in the second. PJ Seufert (1-3) got the win in relief of starter Jack Eisenbarger.

The Miners won the second game, 13-8, behind a 19-hit attack. S&T broke a scoreless tie with six runs in the fifth, and added two runs in the sixth and three runs in the seventh.

Kraus, Weiler, Van Pelt, Mark and Jeremy Lufft each posted two hits and one RBI. Weiler (0-2) allowed six runs on 10 hits over 4.0 innings.

The Hawks (7-17, 2-6 GLVC) play at McKendree on Tuesday.
