Hawks fall twice at home to Missouri S&T

Tyler Crouse held Missouri S&T to five hits in 5.2 innings.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rockhurst could not take advantage of producing 13 hits in falling to Missouri S&T 7-3 in the first game of a conference doubleheader Friday at RU's Loyola Park.

The Hawks stranded nine runners and hit into three double plays. The Miners scored in four of their last six at-bats while finishing with 10 hits.

Corbin Hare led the Hawks with three hits, including a run-scoring single in the eighth. Tommy Kraus, Alex Van Pelt, Nic Mertes and Cameron Dean each posted two hits. Tyler Crouse (1-3) allowed four runs on five hits in 5.2 innings.

The Miners won the second game, 5-4, while only getting seven hits. The visitors scored three runs in the fourth and added two runs in the sixth.

Henry Weiler led the Hawks with two hits. Van Pelt singled home two runs in the first and Tyler Edwards hit a two-run double in the sixth. Jacob Thigpen (1-3) allowed five runs on seven hits over 7.0 innings.

The Hawks (6-16, 1-5 GLVC) play another doubleheader with Missouri S&T on Saturday.
