Newman won five singles matches and the top two doubles matches to defeat Rockhurst, 7-2, in a women's tennis dual Sunday at the Loyola Park Tennis Courts.

The Hawks rallied to tie the match at 2-2 with a victory in No. 2 singles by Samantha Czarnecki in straight sets. Rockhurst's Tamara Santos and Sara Flaxbeard captured their No. 3 doubles match by an 8-6 score.

The loss drops Rockhurst to 6-5 on the season.
