Hawks drop weekend series with Springfield

Alex Van Pelt led the Hawks with five hits in four games against Illinois Springfield.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Illinois Springfield held Rockhurst to three runs in sweeping a four-game series from the Hawks on Saturday and Sunday at RU's Loyola Park.

The Prairie Stars posted 18-1 and 7-2 wins on Saturday afternoon, while holding the Hawks scoreless on Sunday in 7-0 and 10-0 victories.

Alex Van Pelt led the Hawks with a .455 batting average (5 for 11) in the series. Jeremy Lufft posted three hits in the four games. Nathan Mark, Nic Mertes and Garrett McNally each had two hits in the series.

Jack Eisenbarger (2-1) held Springfield hitless over the first four innings in Sunday's opening game. He ended up allowing three runs on five hits over 5.1 innings.

The Hawks (5-11) host Quincy in a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
