Late goal lifts Westminster over Hawks, 15-14

Hannah Miller led the Hawks with eight goals and two assists.

Box Score Westminster College (Utah) halted a late Rockhurst rally by scoring with 25 seconds left to edge the Hawks 15-14 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game Friday at RU's Bourke Field.

The Hawks tallied three unanswered goals to tie the score at 14-all with 1:40 left in the game. Shayna Stevens, Hannah Miller and Maddi Scheipeter scored in the final six minutes to knot the score. Scheipeter notched the tying goal off a pass from Miller.

Miller led the Hawks with eight goals (on 11 shots) and two assists. Clare Goessling scored two goals on four shots. Tessa Boots posted three ground balls, three caused turnovers and one goal.

Hanna Meek tallied six ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers. Spud Ring collected five caused turnovers and two ground balls. Olivia Collier added four ground balls, two caused turnovers and one assist.

Bunga Spencer and Jaylin Johnson combined for seven caused turnovers and four ground balls. Kelsey Norby posted 10 saves.

The Hawks (6-4, 3-3 RMAC) play at Benedictine College on Thursday.
