Offensive attack leads Hawks to 17-3 win

Jack Eisenbarger held Fort Hays State to one run on two hits over 5.0 innings.

Box Score Rockhurst scored 11 runs in the first three innings in cruising to a 17-3 victory over Fort Hays State Wednesday at RU's Loyola Park.

Alex Van Pelt led the Hawks with four hits in four at-bats and six RBIs. He hit a two-run single in the first, singled home a run in the second and doubled home two runs in the third. Van Pelt's RBI double in the fifth gave the Hawks a 12-1 lead.

Eleven Hawks collected hits in Rockhurt's 15-hit attack. Connor Ellefson finished with two hits and two RBIs. Nathan Mark posted a run-scoring single in the first and Jack Burns doubled home a run in the fifth.

Jack Eisenbarger (2-0) allowed one run on two hits while striking out seven in 5.0 innings.

The Hawks (5-7) host Illinois Springfield in a doubleheader on Saturday.
