The Rockhurst women split their first two matches of the season in Grand Island, Nebraska. The Hawks defeated South Dakota State 4-3 on Saturday and fell to Nebraska-Kearney 6-3 on Sunday.

The Hawks won four singles matches to rally past South Dakota State. Emma Persson, Tamara Santos, Samantha Czarnecki and Octavia Malin won in singles after Rockhurst dropped two of three doubles matches.

Kearney collected two points in doubles and four points in singles to get past the Hawks. Czarnecki and Malin teamed up to win in No. 2 doubles and came back to capture their matches in No. 4 and 5 singles.
