Box Score Rockhurst dominated the inside play in posting an 83-71 victory over McKendree Saturday in Lebanon, Illinois.
The Hawks outscored McKendree 38-26 in the paint behind the shooting of Quinton Curry and Curtis Lewis. The freshmen pair combined for 43 points, including 24 points in the paint.
"This is a great win for us,"Â said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "Any win in this league is great, but we had great guts in this win and awesome unselfish play. Our guys have hung in when things have been tough; that's what makes me most proud."
Curry led the Hawks with 23 points and six rebounds, while Lewis posted 20 points, five assists and five rebounds.
Eddie Muench scored 17 points behind five 3-pointers. Connor Evans finished with nine points and five rebounds. Gabe Brown added seven points and four rebounds.
Rockhurst shot 56.3 percent from the field (27 of 48) and 87.5 percent from the foul line (21 of 24). McKendree made 22 of 53 field goals (41.5 percent) and 20 of 25 free throws (80.0 percent).
The Hawks (12-12, 5-9 GLVC) host seventh-ranked Bellarmine Thursday.
