Hawks fall in first round of RMAC Tournament in Denver

Hannah Weisbrod posted two goals, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Box Score Sixth-seeded Rockhurst fell to third-seeded Colorado Mesa 16-4 in the first round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday in Denver, Colo.

Mesa jumped out to a 5-0 lead and led 10-1 at halftime. The Mavericks outscored Rockhurst 6-3 in the second half.
Hannah Weisbrod scored the Hawks' first two goals with assists from Madeline Gilstrap. Sam Roth scored two unassisted goals in the second half.

Mesa outshot Rockhurst, 25-14. Weisbrod led the Hawks with five shots, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Roth added four shots. Betsy Gregg and Hanna Meek combined for six ground balls and four caused turnovers. Leena Nabulsi collected three saves.

The Hawks wrap up their fourth season as a Division II program with a 9-9 record. Mesa will face second-seeded Regis in the tournament semifinals on Friday.
