Rockhurst rallies for 8-7 win over Missouri S&T

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rockhurst scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for an 8-7 victory over Missouri S&T in the first game of a conference doubleheader Sunday at Loyola Park.

Alex Van Pelt drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly to left field. Henry Weiler tied the game with a two-run single down the line in right field.

Brock Collins (2-1) was the winning pitcher in relief of starter Joe Huber, who allowed four earned runs on 11 hits over 6.2 innings.
Weiler and Mitch Stickney led the Hawks with two hits and two RBIs each. Stickney hit a solo home run to left field in the sixth. Brett Marr drove an S&T pitch over the left field fence in the fourth.

Missouri S&T held off a Rockhurst rally to win the second game, 5-4. The Hawks left the bases loaded after scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth. Marr and Wylson Lamb led the Hawks with two hits apiece. Andrew Ellwanger (3-4) allowed five runs on nine hits over 3.2 innings.

Rockhurst (17-16, 5-7 GLVC) will host Missouri-St. Louis in a four-game series on April 14-15.
