Hawks end rainy weekend with 10-7 win over Quincy

Andrew Ellwanger struck out nine in winning his fifth game of the season.

Box Score Rockhurst scored seven runs in the fifth inning on the way to posting a 10-7 victory over Quincy Sunday night at Crane Stadium in Warrensburg, Mo.

The Hawks (21-23, 9-14 GLVC) salvaged the final game of the series, which was cut short to three games due to rain over the past three days.

Wylson Lamb led the Hawks with three hits. Lamb's second double of the game gave the Hawks a 10-1 lead in the fifth. He doubled and scored on a Brett Marr single in the third.

Marr, Henry Weiler, Nic Mertes and Jeremy Lufft each finished with two hits. Lufft drove in three runs and Weiler had two RBI. Seth Soto and David Stober added RBI doubles in the fifth.

Andrew Ellwanger (5-5) allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out nine hitters. Freshman Jacob Thigpen got the final two outs in the ninth to collect his first collegiate save.
