Hawks close out Florida trip with 5-2 win

Box Score Rockhurst scored four runs in the eighth inning to rally for a 5-2 victory over Minnesota Crookston in the Clearwater Invitational Monday in Clearwater, Fla. The Hawks wrap up their Spring Break trip to Florida with a 5-4 record.

Jeremy Lufft and Nic Mertes keyed the late rally with RBI singles. Henry Weiler led off the inning with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Seth Soto.

Weiler, David Stober, Alex Van Pelt and Nic Mertes each had two hits to lead the 10-hit attack. Joe Huber and Andrew Ellwanger (3-0) combined on a four-hitter while striking out 13.

The Hawks (11-4) return home to host McKendree in a doubleheader on Friday.
