Rockhurst struggles offensively in loss to Lewis

Alex Hagan led the Hawks with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Box Score

Rockhurst shot a season-low 32.8 percent from the field in falling to Lewis, 75-54, Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks (13-8, 7-6 GLVC) missed all nine of their three-point shots in the second half and finished four-of-26 (15.4 percent) on three-pointers.

"We really struggled offensively. We never got things going on that end of the floor," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "We had a low turnover game (three) and kept them off the offensive glass, which is crucial to our success. Unfortunately, we didn't play well enough to get the win. They have a talented group of guards. They have a nice club."

Lewis shot 65.5 percent (19 of 29) in the second half in outscoring the Hawks 45-26 over the final 20 minutes.

Alex Hagan led the Hawks with 16 points and nine rebounds. Malachi Nix posted 11 points and three assists. Kaleb Warner scored nine points on four-of-10 shooting. Connor Evans added seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

Lewis (14-9, 10-3 GLVC) made 30-of-52 field goals (57.7 percent). Cristen Wilson led the Flyers with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

The Hawks return to the road to play at Saint Joseph's on Thursday (Feb. 9).
