Hawks win pair to improve record to 6-0

Henry Weiler allowed one run on three hits over six innings.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rockhurst improved its record on the season to 6-0 with a doubleheader sweep over Lewis on Sunday at Loyola Park.

The Hawks scored four runs in the sixth inning to post a 7-3 win in the first game. Seth Soto doubled home one run and Alex Van Pelt added a two-run double in the sixth.

Brett Marr led the Hawks with two hits with an RBI single in the third. Jeremy Lufft hit a solo home run in the fourth and Dylan Brauner added a pinch-hit run-scoring single in the sixth.

Joe Huber (2-0) held Lewis to three runs on five hits while striking out six over 6.2 innings. Alex Merithew got the final out for his first save of the season.

In the second game, Rockhurst held Lewis to four hits while posting a 4-3 win over the Flyers.

Marr drove in two runs with a double in the fifth. The Hawks scored two runs in the sixth on an RBI double by Mitch Stickney and a run-scoring single by Van Pelt. Seth Soto collected two of Rockhurst's six hits.

Henry Weiler (1-0) allowed one run on three hits over six innings. PJ Seufert pitched the final two innings to get his first save.

The Hawks head to Florida on Saturday (March 4) for eight games in the Clearwater Invitational.
