Jewell hosts Hawks in regular season finale

Alex Hagan ranks 20th in scoring and sixth in rebounding in the GLVC.
The Rockhurst Hawks (14-11, 8-9 GLVC) meet the William Jewell Cardinals (8-17, 4-13 GLVC) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division matchup at 7:30 p.m. today at the Mabee Center in Liberty, Mo.

Rockhurst won their last meeting, 83-77, in Kansas City on Dec. 7, 2016. Jewell has won 12 of the 17 meetings in the all-time series.

ABOUT ROCKHURST: The Hawks have clinched fourth place in the GLVC West Division. Junior forward Kaleb Warner ranks 14th in scoring (15.4) and ninth in 3-point field goals made (2.6) in the GLVC. Senior guard Malachi Nix ranks 28th in scoring (13.2), 11th in assists (4.0), seventh in free throw percentage (83.2) and ninth in assist/turnover ratio (2.0) in the GLVC. Junior forward Alex Hagan ranks 20th in scoring (14.1) and sixth in rebounding (8.0) in the GLVC. Junior center Gabe Brown ranks fifth in blocked shots (1.5) in the GLVC. Junior guard Travis House ranks 10th in 3-point field goals made (2.6) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward Connor Evans ranks 12th in steals (1.4) in the GLVC. Rockhurst ranks fifth in 3-point field goals made (9.4) in the GLVC.

LAST GAME: Truman State rallied in the second half to post a 95-84 victory over Rockhurst Saturday in Kirksville, Mo. Rockhurst jumped out to an 8-0 lead and led for more than 34 minutes. Truman State outscored the Hawks 40-20 over the final nine minutes and took the lead for good at 70-69 with 4:34 left. The Bulldogs made 14-of-16 free throws in the final 3:34. Kaleb Warner and Mason Loewen both finished with 19 points and five rebounds to lead the Hawks. Alex Hagan collected 12 points and six rebounds. Malachi Nix posted 12 points, six assists and two steals. Andrew Ellwanger and Travis House each scored eight points. Rockhurst shot 44.6 percent (29 of 65) from the field. Truman State (20-7, 12-5 GLVC) connected on 31-of-60 field goals (51.7 percent).

GLVC TOURNAMENT: The Hawks will be the No. 9 seed in the GLVC Tournament and will face eighth-seeded Drury in the first round of the GLVC Tournament at 2 p.m. Sunday in Springfield, Mo.
