Box Score A strong inside game powered Indianapolis to an 81-72 victory over Rockhurst Saturday in Indianapolis. The Greyhounds outscored the Hawks, 34-14, in the paint.
Rockhurst (14-9, 8-7 GLVC) led most of the first half and jumped out to a 34-23 lead late in the half before Indianapolis closed the first half on a 9-0 run. The Greyhounds scored 49 points in the second half behind 66.7 percent shooting (16 of 24).
"We were never able to establish an interior presence in the game,"Â said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "They have some big, physical guys that made it tough down there. They were able to pull away by driving it right down our throats. We didn't contain well in the second half."
Kaleb Warner led the Hawks with 21 points on seven-of-18 shooting. Warner made four three-pointers. Mason Loewen came off the bench to post 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Freshman Will Hrubes scored a career-high 17 points on five-of-seven shooting. Alex Hagan added a team-high 10 rebounds.
Indianapolis (14-9, 11-4 GLVC) made 26-of-72 field goals (36.1 percent). AJ Lawton led the Greyhounds with 21 points.
The Hawks play at Quincy on Thursday (Feb. 16).
