Hawks end weekend in Indianapolis

Junior forward Alex Hagan leads the Hawks in scoring (15.2) and rebounding (8.2).
The Rockhurst Hawks (14-8, 8-6 GLVC) meet the Indianapolis Greyhounds (13-9, 10-4 GLVC) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference inter-division matchup today at 2:15 p.m. in Indianapolis.

The Hawks won their last meeting, 98-93, in Kansas City on Feb. 11, 2016. Indianapolis has won five of the last six meetings and leads the all-time series, 6-5.

The Hawks have won 11 of their last 15 games dating back to Dec. 7. Junior forward Alex Hagan leads the Hawks in scoring (15.2) and rebounding (8.2). Junior forward Kaleb Warner ranks 14th in scoring (14.9) and 11th in 3-point field goals made (2.5) in the GLVC.

Senior guard Malachi Nix ranks 24th in scoring (13.5), 11th in assists (4.0), eighth in free throw percentage (82.5), ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.9) and 10th in minutes played (31.5) in the GLVC. Junior center Gabe Brown ranks fourth in blocked shots (1.6) in the GLVC. Junior guard Travis House ranks eighth in 3-point field goals made (2.7) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward Connor Evans ranks 12th in steals (1.4) in the GLVC. Rockhurst ranks fifth in 3-point field goals made (9.4) in the GLVC.

Rockhurst shot a season-high 57.8 percent from the field in posting an 85-77 victory at Saint Joseph's Thursday night. The Hawks never trailed in the game. Rockhurst took a 35-28 lead into halftime behind 57.1 percent shooting and shot even better in the second half (58.3). The Hawks also shot 84.8 percent from the foul line. Kaleb Warner led the Hawks with 19 points on seven-of-12 shooting. Mason Loewen came off the bench to score 18 points on six-of-10 shooting. Malachi Nix posted 16 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Connor Evans tallied 12 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Alex Hagan added 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Rockhurst closes out the regular season at Quincy (Feb. 16), at Truman State (Feb. 18) and at William Jewell (Feb. 23).
