Box Score Four players scored in double figures to lead Rockhurst to a conference-opening 82-66 victory over Quincy Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.
Rockhurst opened the second half on a 20-9 run to give the Hawks a 52-36 lead with 14:20 left in the game.
Connor Evans led the Hawks with 17 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists. Eddie Muench tallied 17 points with three 3-pointers. Auston Rushing came off the bench to score 16 points with three 3-pointers. Curtis Lewis added 13 points and eight assists.
"We didn't play a great game but I thought we were locked in for 40 minutes and really competed at a high level. I think Curtis was able to get in the paint and get the defense chasing in the second half which was nice to see,"Â said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener.
Rockhurst hit 46.7 percent on its field goals (28 of 60) and 66.7 percent from the foul line (16 of 24). Quincy made 21 of 55 field goals (38.2 percent) and 18 of 28 free throws (64.3 percent).
The Hawks (4-3, 1-0 GLVC) host Maryville on Saturday at 3 p.m.
