The Rockhurst Hawks (7-5, 1-3 GLVC) meet 17th-ranked Southern Indiana (13-0, 3-0 GLVC) at 3 p.m. today at the Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Indiana.
The Screaming Eagles won their last meeting, 86-72, at Southern Indiana in the first round of the GLVC Tournament on Feb. 28, 2016. USI has won the last 13 meetings and leads the all-time series, 16-1. Rockhurst's lone victory in the all-time series was back in 2007 at Rockhurst.
The Hawks have won four of their last five games dating back to Dec. 7. Junior forward
Kaleb Warner leads the Hawks in scoring (15.4) and rebounding (5.6). Warner is averaging 17.7 points and 7.3 rebounds in his last three games. He scored a season-high 25 points at Washburn on Nov. 19.
Senior guard
Malachi Nix is averaging 11.3 points and 3.5 assists per game. Nix has posted 56 points (14.0 pg) and 22 assists (5.4 pg) in his last four games. Nix ranks tied for 15th in assists, 15th in 3-point field goal percentage (45.2), ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.9) and tied for ninth in minutes played (30.7) in the GLVC.
Junior center
Gabe Brown leads the GLVC and ranks tied for 13th in the nation in blocked shots (2.4). Junior guard
Travis House is tied for fifth in 3-point field goals made (2.8) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward
Connor Evans is tied for 15th in steals (1.4) in the GLVC.
Rockhurst could not overcome Bellarmine's strong interior game in falling to the 13th-ranked Knights, 80-71, Thursday in Louisville.
Kaleb Warner led the Hawks with 21 points and five rebounds.
Malachi Nix posted 12 points and six assists.
Alex Hagan collected nine points and seven rebounds after missing the last eight games with an injury.
Travis House added eight points.
The Hawks return home next week to face McKendree (Jan. 12) and Illinois Springfield (Jan. 14). Rockhurst has a 7-2 record in home games. The Hawks close out the month with road games at Missouri S&T (Jan. 19) and Drury (Jan. 21), followed by home games vs. Missouri-St. Louis (Jan. 26) and Maryville (Jan. 28). Rockhurst opens February with home games against Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside before closing out the regular season with five road games.
