Box Score Drury stopped a game-winning three-pointer by Rockhurst on the final play of the game to hold on for a 70-68 victory over the Hawks Saturday in Springfield, Mo.
A missed free throw by Drury with two seconds left gave Rockhurst one last shot for victory. Travis House's three-pointer from 30 feet out was blocked at the buzzer.
"We played with great passion today,"Â said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "I loved our toughness. We didn't have a great offensive game, but still were right there to win it. We just need to keep improving, which I think we will."
The Hawks (10-7, 4-5 GLVC) went on a 9-1 run down the stretch to pull within one point (64-63) with 2:13 remaining. Drury made four free throws in the final 15 seconds, while Rockhurst went two-for-four at the line.
Kaleb Warner led the Hawks with 19 points on seven-of-13 shooting. He hit four-of-nine three-pointers. House scored 14 points on five-of-13 shooting. Malachi Nix finished with 13 points, three assists and two steals.
Rockhurst shot 42.3 percent from the field (22 of 52) and 36.1 percent on three-point field goals (13 of 36). Connor Evans added seven points, six rebounds, three blocks and two steal. Alex Hagan added six rebounds.
Drury (13-3, 6-3 GLVC) made 27-of-51 field goals (52.9 percent) and six-of-15 three-pointers (40.0 percent).
The Hawks return home to host Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday (Jan. 26).
