The Rockhurst Hawks (10-6, 4-4 GLVC) meet the Drury Panthers (12-4, 5-3 GLVC) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division matchup at 3 p.m. today at the O'Reilly Family Event Center in Springfield, Mo.
The Panthers won their last meeting, 67-62, last season at Rockhurst. Drury has won the last 10 meetings and leads the all-time series, 67-44.
The Hawks have won seven of their last nine games dating back to Dec. 7. Junior forward
Alex Hagan leads the Hawks in scoring (17.5) and rebounding (7.6). Hagan posted back-to-back double-doubles in points-rebounds last week in home wins over McKendree and Illinois Springfield. Hagan is averaging 20.5 points and 8.3 rebounds in his last four games. He scored a season-high 26 points against Nebraska Wesleyan on Nov. 12.
Senior guard
Malachi Nix is averaging 13.6 points and 3.6 assists per game. Nix is averaging 20.5 points and 4.0 assists in his last four games. Nix ranks 26th in scoring, 13th in assists, 13th in assist/turnover ratio (1.7) and 20th in steals (1.2) in the GLVC.
Junior center
Gabe Brown leads the GLVC and ranks tied for 30th in the nation in blocked shots (2.0). Junior guard
Travis House ranks ninth in 3-point field goals made (2.6) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward
Connor Evans is tied for 11th in steals (1.4) in the GLVC. Rockhurst ranks fourth in 3-point field goals made (10.0) and sixth in blocked shots (3.4) in the GLVC.
Rockhurst drained 17 three-point field goals and sank 10-of-12 free throws in overtime to carry the Hawks to a 99-96 victory at Missouri S&T Thursday night.
Kaleb Warner led the Hawks with 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting.
Alex Hagan and
Malachi Nix each finished with 21 points while combining for 13 points in overtime. Nix made 11-of-12 free throws, and tallied six rebounds and five assists.
Connor Evans added eight points, six rebounds and three assists.
Travis House and
Mason Loewen each scored eight points. Rockhurst shot 52.5 percent from the field and 50.0 percent on three-point field goals.
The Hawks return home to face Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday, Jan. 26 and Maryville on Saturday, Jan. 28. The Hawks open February with home games against Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside before closing out the regular season with five road games.
