McKendree brings 6-6 record to Rockhurst

Travis House is tied for fifth in 3-point field goals made in the GLVC.
The Rockhurst Hawks (7-6, 1-4 GLVC) host the McKendree Bearcats (6-6, 0-4 GLVC) on Old School Jersey Night in a Great Lakes Valley Conference inter-divisional matchup tonight at 7:30.

The Hawks won their last meeting, 86-80, at McKendree on Jan. 16, 2016. Rockhurst leads the all-time series 2-1.

Junior forward Alex Hagan leads the Hawks in scoring (16.2) and rebounding (6.0). Junior forward Kaleb Warner is averaging 13.7 points and 5.0 rebounds. Senior guard Malachi Nix ranks 13th in 3-point field goal percentage (47.2) and 13th in assist/turnover ratio in the GLVC. Junior center Gabe Brown leads the GLVC and ranks 26th in the nation in blocked shots (2.2). Sophomore forward Connor Evans ranks 11th in steals (1.5) in the GLVC. Junior guard Travis House is tied for fifth in 3-point field goals made (2.8) in the GLVC. Rockhurst ranks third in blocked shots and fourth in 3-point field goals made in the GLVC. The Hawks host Illinois Springfield on Saturday, Jan. 14.

The Hawks ended their first conference road trip of the season with a 98-77 loss at Southern Indiana last Saturday. Alex Hagan led the Hawks with 22 points on nine-of-14 shooting. Malachi Nix scored 20 points on eight-of-13 shooting. Mason Loewen collected 19 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Travis House added eight points. Rockhurst shot 52.6 percent from the field and 40.9 percent on three-pointers.

The Bearcats are coming off an 95-79 loss at home to Truman State last Saturday. Junior guard David Franklin led McKendree with 28 points. Senior forward Michael Jackson ranks eighth in scoring (16.5) in the GLVC. Junior guard Justin Blanks stands 11th in scoring (15.6) in the GLVC. Nolan Gerling ranks second in the GLVC in rebounding (9.6). Junior guard Gianni Otto is ninth in assists (4.1) and fifth in steals (1.7) in the GLVC. Harry Statham is in his 51st season as McKendree's head coach and has a 1,107-486 record.
