Hawks drop regular season finale at home

David Stober posted his third three-hit game in three days.
Box Score Rockhurst ended the regular season with its first home loss of the season, falling to Truman State 8-3 Sunday at Loyola Park.

The Hawks finished in a tie for second place with Quincy in the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division with an 18-10 conference record. Missouri S&T won the division title with a 19-9 mark.

Rockhurst, 27-22 overall and 11-1 at home, will play in the first round of the GLVC Tournament on Thursday in Westfield, Indiana. The tournament bracket will be announced on Monday,

David Stober led the Hawks with three hits. The junior outfielder went 11-for-17 in the four-game series to raise his team-leading batting average to .367.

Seth Soto posted two hits with a run-scoring single. Henry Weiler and Tim Mahoney also singled home runs in the Hawks' three-run first inning.

Truman State scored two runs in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead and added four runs in the final three innings. Weiler (7-4) allowed six runs on eight hits and struck out six in 8.0 innings.
